About the Park

Akami−Uapishkᵘ−KakKasuak−Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve, located in central Labrador, encompasses a diverse landscape of boreal forests, tundra, fjords, and over 50 kilometers of shoreline along the Labrador Sea and Lake Melville. It is the largest national park in eastern Canada, protecting a variety of wildlife including the threatened Mealy Mountains woodland caribou herd, wolves, black bears, and healthy populations of wild Atlantic salmon. The park holds significant cultural importance for the Innu, Inuit, and other Indigenous communities.

History
