About the Park
Located north of Shawinigan, and between Saint-Maurice River, Matawin River, and Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve, the park features a canoe camping circuit and habitat for the wood turtle.
Park Location
History
Established in 1970, La Mauricie National Park was created to protect a representative sample of the southern Laurentians' natural region. The area has a rich history, with early 20th-century logging activities and private hunting and fishing clubs preceding its national park status.

The park's landscape is characterized by rolling hills, dense forests, and over 150 lakes and ponds. It showcases typical features of the Canadian Shield, including exposed Precambrian rock formations and mixed wood forests.
