About the Park

Adjacent to the Nahanni National Park, Nááts'įhch'oh extends the protected area into the Sahtu Settlement Area to include additional land with the South Nahanni River watershed to Mount Nááts'įhch'oh and the Moose Ponds.

History

Nááts'įhch'oh National Park Reserve was officially established in 2014 and is named after Nááts'įhch'oh, a mountain of significant cultural importance to the Shúhtaot'ine (Mountain Dene) people. The park protects the headwaters of the South Nahanni River and is cooperatively managed with local Indigenous communities.
